Winter

Dates of winter: 1 June to 31 August (ski season runs from June into early October depending on snow conditions)

Winter temperatures: Between 0°C and 8°C

Winter weather: Frosty mornings, clear blue skies, snowfall and cold temperatures

Queenstown is a winter play ground with five ski areas in the Queenstown/Wanaka areas, including New Zealand's only Nordic ski area.

Spring

Dates of spring: 1 September to 30 November

Average spring temperatures: Between 8°C and 22°C

Weather: A little unpredictable - a mixture of sunshine and the occasional spring shower

In spring, Queenstown proudly hosts numerous artistic, cultural and sporting events. An annual highlight is the Jazz Festival, attracting an international line-up of musicians and music lovers from around the country.


Summer

Dates of summer: 1 December to 28 February

Average summer temperatures: Between 20° and 30°C

Weather: Long, sunny days. In mid-summer, dawn breaks at 5am and dusk settles around 10pm

Queenstown's alpine climate and long days are idea for that summer holiday by the lake and awesome outdoor summer living.

Summer days in Queenstown are long and leisurely with the summer sun rising as early as 5am and the setting after 10pm.


Autumn

Dates of autumn: 1 March to 31 May

Average autumn temperatures: Between 12°C and 25°C

Weather: Clear, settled days with cool evenings
